Principal's Message

Principal Wendy Cave

Welcome to Ainslie School's website, and thank you for taking time to learn a little about our school. Ainslie has a long held reputation as a community school, where students, parents and the broader community work together with a dedicated professional team to ensure every child achieves success. With families from around the world, Ainslie School is proudly multicultural.

Students attending Ainslie School experience learning in a site that holds great cultural significance within the ACT, nationally and internationally.  The location of the school affords rich opportunities, as students access natural landscapes including Mt Ainslie, Glebe and Haig Parks, and the many landmarks, organisations and enterprises within Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. While respecting the many traditions established over Ainslie School’s 91 year history, we continue to embrace change, through providing contemporary education of the highest calibre. As part of our ongoing commitment to achieving the highest standards, students, staff and the community regularly review our progress and future directions. Currently we are pursuing innovation around student agency, environmental sustainability, and conservation of this special part of Canberra.

Creativity and curiosity are nurtured at Ainslie School, and our approaches reflect the core values of community, respect, and excellence.  In addition to a targeted focus on literacy and numeracy, our students have access to specialist programs in Music and Japanese.

High levels of community and professional support enable the progress of every student every day at Ainslie School. We welcome volunteers, young people undertaking work experience and school based apprenticeships, and connections with teacher education at the University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. I hope you enjoy exploring our website, and that you find a chance to visit Ainslie in the near future. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to learn a little more about our programs, or to enquire about our enrolment process.
